About The Retreat
Eagles Retreat is a converted church in the hamlet of High Hoyland in South West Yorkshire, where Christians have worshipped since the 6th century – for us it is hallowed ground.
It offers unique accommodation for individuals and small groups (exclusively or communally) for ‘rest, refreshment and restoration’ in a place of immense peace and beauty.
Who can come?
-
In a spirit of Christian hospitality, we welcome people of all faiths or none.
-
We particularly welcome those who have been bereaved, bruised or worn down in life.
If you would like to meet with someone for support while you are here, please see our services.
Our Rooms
Making the most of your stay
All Hallows, where Eagles’ Rest Retreat is based, has been a place of worship since the 6th Century, where missionaries gathered and prayed around a cross before the church was built.
Today, people can find peace and renewal through this beautiful residence and its tranquil surroundings, which are perfect for reflective country walks.
Those who have enjoyed a holiday or mini-break with us have discovered the huge variety of local attractions for all the family within easy reach. There are significant landmarks within the area from nationally recognised cultural sites such as York Minister, Wentworth Woodhouse and the Bronte family parsonage to the art of the Hepworth Gallery and Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Our young guests love Cannon Hall Farm, the National Coal Mining Museum and a dry ski slope.
There are many beautiful walks from your door around the Sculpture Park and to quaint historic local villages such as Cawthorne, with their festivals, cycling and rambling for nature lovers, tempting coffee shops and fascinating places to visit.
